Tonight I was privileged to attend a special party honoring my friends
Mike and LaWayne Freeman. Mike meets with me regularly to discuss life, ministry, scripture, and books.
- Mike never received a degree from a Bible college, but he is a sought after teacher of biblical Greek and Hebrew.
- Mike has memorized more of the New Testament than anyone I know.
- Mike has gone out of his way to keep me in his circle, even showing up on my door with gifts of books to entice me back into discussion with him.
- Mike has eyes that see wonder.
- Mike looks like Tevye from the Fiddler on the Roof, but walks like John the Beloved.
Mike has a blog, called
Project 1189. He is reading through the entire Bible, all 1,189 chapters of it, in 100 weeks, and writing down some journey notes along the way. I think you'd be blessed by his insights and encouragements.
It is kind of funny because he is incredibly smart and theological, but the overwhelming characteristic of his life is how much he loves people.
ReplyDeleteMike's awesome. How's Hannah doing?
ReplyDeleteYou bless me Chad...and humble me. I actually didn't get a management job in my "between years" because when asked which biblical character besides Jesus I would aspire to or characterize myself as being (it was a Christian manager) I answered "John." His face fell as he said he needed a fighter like Joshua. I figure it was my gain.
ReplyDeleteAnd Hannah? She flies...
What a funny/sad story, Mike!
ReplyDelete"No, I'm sorry. We don't want someone who hangs with Jesus, we want someone who can drive out the Canaanites. Praise the Lord."
LOL!
